Somatics and Movement Reeducation in Our Natural Healing School

I have a profound interest in somatics – movement and inner awareness. Somatics is a path, a methodology, a change theory, by which we can embody transformation, individually and collectively. Embodied transformation is foundational change that shows in our actions, ways of being, relating, and perceiving. It is transformation that sustains over time. We teach many different somatic techniques in our natural healing schools

I often like to write about athletics, dance and movement re-education as a healing tool.

When I watch gymnastics I see art – poetry in motion.

The link between somatics, dance, and gymnastics is a thin one.

The best performers merge the three.

Here is one you need to know about and watch in action

I recently saw a video of UCLA gymnast Sophina DeJesus

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

This video is worth ten thousand words.

Watch this beautiful, powerful woman gymnast, Sophina DeJesus. After all the concern for images of sad, bone thin, anorexic girls promoted as some female ideal this amazing athlete with a healthy fit and well-balanced form and delightful sensibility motivated her team, the audience and even the competition with her skill, joy, and passion.

It brought me to tears.
